What digital waste tracking means for your site

Waste movements are moving onto a mandatory digital system. Here is what changes and when.

Dust rising as an excavator breaks up a pile of rubble

Waste records are moving from paper transfer notes to a mandatory digital tracking service. Sites that receive waste are already inside the regime, and waste carriers follow.

In practice it means every movement has to be recorded digitally, with the waste classified properly and the weight recorded along with whether it was actually weighed or estimated. That last distinction is one the regulations specifically require.

For a waste enquiry, ask which records apply to the job, who supplies them and what information you need to provide. Tell us about any documentation requirements set by your business or site.

If you are a carrier yourself and have not looked at this, it is worth doing so before the deadline rather than after.
